KH. Abdul Wahid Hasyim’s Paradigm on Freedom of Learning in Madrasa

In the early twentieth century, Indonesia witnessed flourishing of madrasa as a new model for Muslim educational institutions to respond public schools established by Dutch colonial era. Abdul Wahid Hasyim was one prominent intellectuals who introduced some approaches in learning process which different from traditional system pesantren.
